Karen Winspear - Community Fitness Instructor, Senses Wellbeing Centre
Why did you decide to become a Community Champion?
I got involved with Heathwatch South Tees to try and help spread the word about my work across Redcar and Cleveland - whether it be seated chair exercise for older adults or fitness classes for children.
Lots of people can benefit from activities at the Senses Wellbeing Centre.
How does your role help people in South Tees?
I am a local community fitness instructor from East Cleveland. I deliver fitness classes for every age and ability across Skelton & Brotton and deliver dementia friendly classes for older adults in care homes and assisted living venues.
My other passion is children’s fitness. As paediatric inactivity rises, I enjoy engaging children with alternatives to sport based curriculum. I also run the Senses Wellbeing Centre.
